Solo-Ride, My Journey

Solo-Ride, My Journey

When I first invented Solo-Ride I was so excited to help every single rider that had a tough time mounting away from a mounting block, out on the trail, or when riding on their own. I knew I was not alone. There are oodles of us, even more than oodles likely!

I get that a lot, Solo what? Is that for riding or something? Can it get me on my horse? My horse is big and tall, will it work for me? Am I tall enough? Am I too heavy? And so on…..all excellent questions!

I usually do a quick catch-all explanation to anyone that wants to hear about Solo-Ride and they either get it, or they don’t. I am fine either way. I just love that it just might be the ticket for them. It might help them to ride the whole way, not just only up until they had to hop off for some reason. Solo-Ride might just be exactly what they needed, just like me.

Being an introvert, how would I get the word out without having to tell everyone myself. This took me a long time to figure out. The thought of speaking to a group, giving a lesson, or even talking on the phone to a stranger does a real number on my insides. Because I truly want to make a difference and help others with the whole mounting issue, I pushed through. I tried talking at a few shows, gave online interviews, showed it around, gave samples but all of that was scary to me, to say the least. I couldn’t continue. It was all too much. The anxiety before anything was unbelievable, it ruined everything. I stopped advertising, I ignored it, I hoped and prayed people would just google how to mount a tall horse and somehow magically find my website. You know when you really want to do something, but it doesn’t feel, right? Well, that’s what it was for me.  So, I found another way. Videos. What a novel idea!! I did a few and once I got the hang of it, voila.

My favorite route by far to this day is doing videos. I find them fun to do. I don’t run out and do tons of them, but I can hold my own and get the point across without having to run to the bathroom halfway through.  I just press record and do it, no one has to be there….its like a secret! ????
